DETROIT, MI – The 2024 NFL Draft was held this past weekend in Detroit, Michigan. In the 4th round, the Houston Texans selected former Lexington athlete and Ohio State tight end Cade Stover as the 123rd overall pick of this year’s draft.Stover, a Lexington stand-out on the football field, was the recipient of Ohio’s “Mr. Football” award in 2018. The Mr. Football Award has been given out annually since 1987 to the player voted by the Associated Press to be the best high-school football player in the state of Ohio.Stover credits his success to the hard work and lessons he learned on his family’s farm. Following his Senior year at Lexington, Stover announced on his social media page his commitment to Ohio State University in a unique way, using his tractor to help make the announcement. During his tenure at Ohio State, he made the switch from Defense to Offense, where he caught 82 passes for 1,058 yards and 10 touchdowns. The 6-foot-4-inch, 251-pound Stover joins the Texans’ tight end room and is reunited with former Ohio State teammate, CJ Stroud.
