Ontario Warriors Strong on Base Paths in Sectional Semi-Final Win Over Upper Sandusky

ONTARIO, OH – 7th seeded Ontario receives complete game from Ryan Chapman as the Warriors bounce 9th seeded Upper Sandusky 7-2 in Division II Sectional Semi-Final action at Ontario High School Wednesday night. Both pitchers would throw two straight scoreless innings with great defensive plays by both sides before Ontario would take advantage of wild pitches by Upper Sandusky’s Kaden Holman. The Warriors would load the bases on two consecutive batters being hit by a pitch and a walk to put the Rams on their heels in the bottom of the 3rd inning. Ontario’s Gage Weaver would draw a walk for the game’s first RBI, scoring Ryan Brophy in the process to put the Warriors on top 1-0. Ontario’s Caden Armstrong brings in Colten Ramion on the fielder’s choice to increase the Warrior advantage to 2-0 after the 3rd inning. Meanwhile, Ontario’s Ryan Chapman was keeping the Rams at bay with Upper Sandusky unable to figure out the Warrior pitcher throughout the first four innings of action. In the bottom of the 4th, Ontario’s Chase Studer would steal second and third before scoring on a wild pitch to up the Ontario lead to 3-0. The Warriors would run the base paths really well and the Rams would try to throw out Brophy but the throw is off and allows Carter Weaver to put the Warriors up 4-0. The Warriors would put one more in the 5th inning when Kyle Walters hits a double into the outfield scoring Caden Armstrong as Ontario goes up 5-0 after five innings of action. Upper Sandusky would have their best at-bats in the 6th inning scoring two runs but the Warriors would stop the damage to lead 5-2. Ontario’s Gage Weaver would provide an insurance run on an RBI single scoring Brophy with two outs in the bottom of the 6th. The Warriors would not be finished when Gage Weaver scores on a Caden Armstrong RBI single to left as the Warriors go up 7-2 on the Rams. Ontario’s Chapman would complete the game as the Rams could not muster a rally in the top of the 7th with the Warriors moving on to the Sectional Championship game against Tiffin Columbian at Tiffin on Friday at 5 pm.
