Madison Softball Team Wins D-II District Title

WILLARD, OH- The Madison Rams Claimed the Division II district softball championship by stopping county rival Clear Fork by a final of 12-2. Trailing 1-0 after a home run by the Colts Maddison Dion, the Rams would score one in the second inning than in the fifth would plate five runs to grab a 6-1 lead. After Clear Fork picked up a run in the top of the fifth, Madison ended the game by bringing home six runs. But for head coach Tim Niswander he says it starts with error-free defense. “That is goal number one with us if you look through our season when we play error-free we play the whole game well and when we don’t we got a battle. We have been preaching and preaching we have got to have quality at-bats and we have to play error-free and this time of year you have got to do those things if you don’t you have got no chance and we did them both and they played lights out. Just lights out and even at that you can look back and we did not get a key hit the first inning, left runners on second and third didn’t get a key hit in the second inning left runners on second and third scored a run in the third left them loaded we had kids on base everywhere and could not get the big hit and finally they exploded. If Bailey Pitches like that and we play defense behind her I’m not making any predictions but we will be a tough out” For Clear Fork coach Jeff Gottfried he told his team one game does not define the season. “One game does not define the season. I could not be more proud of what this team accomplished this year and what this program has accomplished in 22 years it’s just been a fun ride.”
