Lexington Gets Revenge and Beats Ottawa Hills to advance to Final Four

LEXINGTON, OH – In 2019, it was heartbreak for Lexington falling to Ottawa Hills 3-2 but this time the Minutemen beat the Green Bears 3-1 at home on Tuesday afternoon in the District Final to advance to the Ohio Tennis Coaches Association Final Four. In the first singles spot, Ottawa Hill’s Matt McGee would show why he was the 2021 Northwest District Singles Champion by dispatching Lexington’s Tommy Secrist 6-0, 6-0 to put the Green Bears up 1-0. The Ottawa Hills lead would not last with the Minutemen’s Karl Etzel picking up a convincing 6-1, 6-0 in second singles win over Ottawa Hills to level the match at 1-1. In third singles, Lexington’s Ethan Remy would put the Minutemen on top in the match with a 6-2, 6-2 win over the Green Bears. The clinching point would come from 2nd doubles as the Minutemen’s Joesph Litao and Jake Chilcote defeating Ottawa Hills 6-2, 6-2 to send Lexington back to the Final Four. The first doubles match was not completed and in the third set at the time the deciding point was won by Lexington. Lexington defeats Ottawa Hills 3-1 and advances to face No. 1 ranked Indian Hill in the final four to be played on Sunday in Columbus.
