Ashland Arrows Boys Track Team Going For Fifth Straight OCC Title.

Ashland, OH- The Ohio Cardinal Conference track meet is coming up on Friday at Ashland University. The Arrow boys team will be going for their fifth straight OCC championship. Here is Ashland coach Dan Fuller who says maybe his ace in the hole could be the ability of his distance and middle distance guys to help carry the load.”Yeah, I think that has really helped us a lot having some flexibility with our distance guys with our 4×800 and our 4×400 groups basically the same depending opon the meet those historically the distance guys have always given s a little bit of an edge but I think if you look at the meet it is going to be really close. Ashland senior distance runner Josh Hawley says his fellow distance runners are ready for the challenge. “Yeah, Dillion and Jacob and I were just good at racking up points throughout the season we have just kinda proved that we can run especially when it is competitive we have gone one and two in many events especially against these teams we will be running at the OCC. “A lot of it comes down to experience we’ve been in a lot of these situations and we know what it’s like,” said Dylan Hickey. I think when it comes down to it having those guys at the anchor leg is really important. Sprinter Bryce Mendenhall says he is really not feeling the pressure of trying to win a fifth straight. ” No, I feel like our OTC we played most of them during the season and we pretty much killed them in all the meets we had with them so I’m feeling pretty confident.” “I think our biggest competition coming up on Friday could come from Madison,” said Bryant Hosse. They have a good performer in Issac Brooks he has been a decent performer that we have been playing quite a bit so I’m thinking Madison probably one of the teams we are looking to have to beat. Last Friday the weather at Galion was cold and wet which has a tendency to bring times up. “The weather played a huge factor, said Colton Johnson. ” We could have had faster times.” I’m pretty sure we placed pretty well (as a team the Ashland boys finished 4th) OCC our conference teams are pretty decent so we’ll see.””That is always the goal to win the conference, said Fuller. Then run until we’re done. We will meet tomorrow as a group and try to map out for them what we need to do and what their expectations are and what the expectations are to compete in certain events,”
