Larry Stine
 News Director
Email Larry

For the past 25 years, Larry Stine has been a member of the working news media, currently serving as the News Director for WMFD TV 68.  He began his career in broadcast communications at WVNO FM, now MIX-106.1, and continues as a radio anchor for the morning news on ESPN 1440, WRGM AM.

Stine received his initial journalistic start back in 1980 as a sports writer with the Ashland Times-Gazette, a position he continues to this day on a part-time basis.  In 1982, he was hired as the head writer and editor of the Faultless Rubbermen's men's major fast pitch softball team yearbook, with the squad having come off a second place finish at the Amateur Softball Association's national tournament the previous year.

A native of Ashland, where he resides, Stine closed out a 28-year fast pitch softball career with St. Edward's of the Ashland Church  League as a player-manager.

With the "Eddies," Stine led the team to a national tournament bid in 1998, the first-ever by a Church League squad in Ohio, having earned the berth with a runner-up finish in the Class "C" State/Regional Tournament.  He is the winningest manager in the history of the league, having led St. Edward's to the loop title 12 times and named "Manager of the Year" on three occasions.

A music buff who enjoys all genres, Stine's personal favorite talent is country singer Martina McBride, along with the Eagles and James Taylor.

There's a good bet you can find Stine at Jacobs Field cheering on the Cleveland Indians, tuning in to see how his Ohio State Buckeyes, Cleveland Browns and Miami Dolphins are faring, or cooking and doing charitable work for Ashland Elks Lodge 1360, where he's currently in his third term as a trustee, having been a member for 19 years. During the 2001-2002 lodge year, Stine was named "Elk of the Year" by his peers and was also honored with the prestigious "Citizen of the Year" award, given  each year by the Elks to a  member of the community.
